KKR’s Ali Khan ruled out of IPL 2020 due to injury

Kolkata Knight Riders’ USA recruit Ali Khan, who was signed to replace Harry Gurney, has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.

USA pacer Ali Khan, who was roped in by the Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement for left-arm pacer Harry Gurney, has now been ruled out of IPL 2020 due to an injury. After Gurney was ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury, the 29-year-old Pakistan-born Ali Khan was signed by KKR and that made him the first USA cricketer to play in the IPL.

Khan had been brought in as replacement for English pacer Harry Gurney, who had to undergo a shoulder surgery before the start of the tournament.

However, as it turns out, Ali Khan won’t be a part of IPL 2020 anymore as the pacer has suffered an injury. While the nature of his injury is yet to be known, it is confirmed that Khan is out of the IPL 2020 competition. So far, KKR has played 4 games and won 2 of them and lost as many. Ali Khan, just like Lockie Ferguson, had not made it to the playing XI yet and now the news of him getting ruled out has left KKR a pacer short.

“Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders signed up Ali Khan as a replacement for injured Harry Gurney. Khan became the first USA cricketer to be signed up by an IPL franchise. Unfortunately, Khan has since been injured and will miss the rest of the Dream11 IPL 2020 season,” an IPL statement read.

Kolkata Knight Riders are scheduled to play their next IPL 2020 game on Wednesday, October 7, against Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi.
